This painting was inspired by our son, Nicholas (second from the left), who spent a great deal of time during his childhood exploring the swampland adjacent to our neighborhood.

There are two basic themes in this painting. The first is that children today spend too much time indoors on their devices. Some of the problems with childhood obesity and inadequate critical thinking skills could be resolved if children spent more time playing outdoors and interacting with their natural surroundings.

The second is that teenagers can and should serve as positive role models and mentors for younger children.

Intricately painted, from each leaf on the cypress trees to the figures of the children traversing the nature preserve in this Florida swamp, this painting took more than 300 hours to complete. The print version of it lets you choose which size best fits your decor and budget.
